A Week of Contrasts
26th March 2021This week the Art and Science departments have seen a variety of endeavours focusing on the environment.
Year 1 have been learning about the changing of the seasons from winter to spring. The pupils have been discussing and investigating the changes that occur in nature and created beautiful, textured blossom tree artwork using tissue paper.
Meanwhile in Coding lessons, Year 6 addressed the subject of a cleaner world and Year 5 investigated Filtration in Science. A short film made by Year 5 student, Florence, explains how filtration works, while a team from Year 6 designed and built a Lego underwater vehicle which can clean up the rubbish at the bottom of the ocean. Cosima, Viola and Josephine made a short film to showcase their invention.
With Year 4 designing their own Spring Flowers pictures in Art using pointillism and Year 4 students, Lily and Ayla, creating a Lego, motorised bee pollinating a flower, the school was abuzz with innovation.
Fitting all of this into a very busy last full week of term, Year 6 kept us on track with their time-keeping in French. Bravo!
