Autumnal Art

23rd October 2020

Inspired by the Autumn colours, our Nursery children have been practising their scissor skills and creating their own autumn trees decorated with different coloured leaves, conkers, acorns and squirrels. They also created a fantastic pumpkin display and made hand-print spiders!

Year 1 have been learning about the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt of the early Art Nouveau movement and his use of shapes, pattern and colour. Their task was to interpret the famous ‘Birch Forest’ painting using different methods. They used newspaper strips – enhanced with rubbings of white, grey and black charcoal – and blended autumnal colours by fingertip.

Our Year 3 artists have been thinking about Harvest and where food comes from. They looked at the life cycle of a pumpkin and created these fun and informative pictures.
