Chinese New Year

27th January 2023

Redcliffe students have spent the week celebrating Chinese New Year with a number of activities to mark the Year of the Rabbit.

Nursery children took part in various activities to help them learn about Chinese culture – from making Chinese dragons to trying their hand at writing Chinese numbers using chopsticks. They were able to learn how Chinese New Year is celebrated each year and the importance of red as a lucky colour, with each student receiving a red wallet to take home and bring them good fortune.

In addition, across the whole school, we were treated to a feast of Chinese Delights on Monday lunchtime. Students tried eating their lunch with chopsticks and before cracking open fortune cookies to reveal their fortunes for the year ahead.
