Drawing Plans and Map-Making
11th November 2022This week in their Geography lessons, Year 1 have been busy looking at bird’s eye views of London and comparing it with an aerial view of the Sussex countryside.
Part of our new Humanities topic, ‘Our School’, students have been drawing plans and making their own maps. They were tasked with studying the two contrasting landscapes and noted the differences between them. Students were able to identify the River Thames, the Houses of Parliament, fields and woods. Armed with their new-found knowledge, they then drew their own aerial views of the classroom, thinking carefully about how desks and chairs would look from above.
Year 1 have been really the ‘Our School’ topic and are looking forward to mapping their routes to school over the next few weeks.
