Electricity, Circuits and Forces

19th November 2021

With Year 6 learning about electricity and circuits and Year 5 investigating forces, the Science lab has been a busy place this week.

Year 5 used the Sphero robots to investigate how water resistance changes the speed of an object travelling through the water. Pupils timed how long the Sphero took to travel through the water then changed the outside shape by adding elastic bands to see if the Sphero would go faster or slower.

Meanwhile, Year 6 designed and created their own steady hand game using recycled materials and circuitry components.  The idea of the game is to get your wand from one end of the curly wire to the other without it touching the wire, and if the wand touches the curly wire the circuit is completed and the LED turns on. Fortunately we have some steady hands in the prep school!
