Element of Art, Principles of Design and Integrity of Materials
26th February 2021Year 1 and Year 6 have been learning about materials across very different academic disciplines this week.
The challenge for Year 6 was to grasp the elements of art and the principles of design. Their task was to choose one symbol, letter or object and create a cut-out stencil which would be used with different mediums to illustrate elements of art. The pupils could use line, shape, colour, form, texture and space or mix with the principles of design: pattern, proportion, movement, balance, unity and variety.
Meanwhile in Year 1, pupils have been turning their homes into laboratories, carrying out investigations to find out which materials are waterproof (or not) and which materials are opaque or transparent.
