Finding Rhythm and Pulse

This Thursday, as part of our focus on rhythm and pulse, the whole school took part in some drumming workshops in St Luke’s Hall. The sessions started with some physical warm-ups and then some body percussion. The instructor explained that using vocal sounds or words helped to remember different rhythm patterns and the older children were asked to suggest some for the rest of the group to copy. They then played these rhythms on the djembes; the volume was amazing! The children learnt the basic drumming technique, and the challenge of ensemble playing.

Well done to all pupils for some excellent drumming.
