From Seeds to Trees: Celebrating the Universe

In Science this week, the subject of plant growth cropped up.  Year 1 have been studying plants and growing their own beans from seed, learning how to take care of them properly, with good light and lots of water.

Meanwhile the Year 3 pupils held a discussion on the basis of architecture and in their Art lesson took their inspiration from trees, creating collages to design their dream treehouse. 

There was a very calm atmosphere in this Monday’s Art Club with the pupils creating their own mandalas.  A mandala is a circular symbol, often seen in Hinduism and Buddhism, which represents the universe.  It can be used as a focus for meditation, and making a mandala is very calming and centring – definitely in evidence in the Art room this week.
