Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

4th November 2022

With the trees shedding their leaves and the hint of a chill in the air, RGS students have been feeling particularly autumnal on their first week back after half-term.

As well as the spooktacular Halloween lunch enjoyed by the whole school on our first day back, there has been lots of excitement about the upcoming Bonfire Night. Year 1 have been learning about Guy Fawkes’ ‘gunpowder, treason and plot’ and why we choose to mark the occasion. In their Art lesson they created a fireworks painting using a range of media and paint brush effects in a number of dazzling colours, as well as learning the famous nursery rhyme that commemorates Fawkes’ failed attempt.
