London Youth Games

27th November 2020

In Sport this term we have been taking part in the London Youth Games’ virtual competition. The London Youth Games have been inspiring young Londoners since 1977, when they were launched to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, Borough teams have competed on an annual basis for the prestigious Jubilee Trophy.

We are helping the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to get points for participants taking part in weekly challenges. Currently the Borough is in 3rd place out of 29 participating boroughs. This week we competed in the game of Boccia which is lesser-known sport that is a test of control and accuracy, similar to bowls. Players carefully throw their balls towards a target or “jack” ball and the closest side to the target ball when all the balls have been played, scores.

We have also previously taken part in the Hockey, Rugby and Handball challenges and the children really enjoy trying different sports. More information about the London Youth Games can be found here.
