11+ Preparation
Preparation starts in Year 3

We pride ourselves on having good relationships with many of the leading day and boarding schools around London which enables us to give excellent advice to parents about choosing their child’s senior school. We aim to help parents find the right school for each individual child.

From Year 3, we start to support our pupils in their preparations for the 11+ by offering teaching in verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

There is a particular focus in Year 5 on stretching pupils in Maths and English, with the aim of completing the required 11+ syllabus by the end of Year 5. This allows the early weeks of Year 6 to focus on revision and exam practise as well as a focus on interview techniques. We cover both written and online exam techniques to match the different requirements of many schools.

With exams out the way, we offer a ‘Leadership Programme’ to our Year 6 pupils which helps to prepare them for their transition to senior schools. This includes our ‘Young Enterprise’ scheme which gives pupils the opportunity to run and develop a small profitable business. All profits go towards the school’s nominated charity.

Year 6 pupils also spend time each week working with the very youngest pupils in Reception and Nursery, supporting and helping them with their learning, as well as benefiting from this experience themselves. Our approach ensures that pupils leave Redcliffe as well-rounded individuals who are confident about taking the next step on their learning journey.
