11+ and Common Entrance Preparation
Preparation starts in Year 4
We pride ourselves on having good relationships with many of the leading day and boarding schools around London which enables us to give excellent advice to parents about choosing their child’s senior school. At our annual ‘Where Next After Redcliffe?’ event, we help parents to think about the senior school choices available to them. Head teachers from local senior schools are also on-hand to answer informally parents’ questions.
From Year 4, we support our pupils in their preparations for the 11+ and Common Entrance examinations by offering additional teaching in the following:
- 11+ English
- 11+ Maths
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Interview technique
We also offer a variety of Academic Stretch Clubs for children seeking to deepen their knowledge in the following subjects:
- Introduction to science
- French conversation
- Spanish conversation
With exams out the way, we offer a ‘Leadership Programme’ to our Year 6 pupils which helps to prepare them for their transition to senior schools. This includes our ‘Young Enterprise’ scheme which gives pupils the opportunity to run and develop a small profitable business. All profits go towards the school’s nominated charity.
Year 6 pupils also spend time each week working with the very youngest pupils in Reception and Nursery, supporting and helping them with their learning, as well as benefiting from this experience themselves.
Our approach ensures that pupils leave Redcliffe as well-rounded individuals who are confident about taking the next step on their learning journey.
