Reception and Year 1 trip to Orleans House Gallery

25th March 2022

On Tuesday, students in Reception and Year 1 spent the day at Orleans House Gallery.

Set in beautiful gardens which overlook the River Thames in Twickenham, the Orleans House Gallery houses over 4,000 works in the Richmond Borough Art Collection – from watercolours to prints, photography to artefacts. Students took part in a fun and hands on sessions which develop their drawing skills,  helping them to discover the different marks that could be made with a variety of materials, including ink and charcoal. Then the children explored the art collection, using it as inspiration for their own artwork and to learn about London and the Thames in the past.

With the sun shining, students also went for a walk around Marble Hill Park in search of signs of spring, and found many spring flowers.
