RGS students support Under One Sky for Harvest Festival
7th October 2022This week we celebrated our annual Harvest Festival with donations to our chosen charity for the 2022-23 academic year, Under One Sky.
Under One Sky is a volunteer-led initiative supporting people living on the streets of London through friendship and compassion. They distribute food, drink, and much-needed essential supplies to those who don’t have a safe place to call home.
At the beginning of this academic year, Year 6 were tasked with raising funds and saving their own pocket-money in order to buy goods for the homeless. On Monday, we visited Sainsbury’s with a shopping list of non-perishable items to donate to Under One Sky. Students had fun walking around the shop deciding what to buy and working within a budget to purchase essential items such as toiletries, boxes of juice and cereal bars. We then made these harvest baskets; a long-standing tradition at Harvest festivals. To make them, we used small cardboard boxes, tissue paper, ribbon, sheets of brightly coloured wrapping paper, clingfilm and of course – lots of goodies!
It was wonderful to see the whole Redcliffe community come together to provide such a bountiful harvest to those most in need in our community.
