The Week in Sport

7th October 2022

It has been a particularly sporting week at RGS with students from Years 1-6 enjoying the full programme of sport that Redcliffe has to offer.

Years 2, 3 and 4 had their first away matches of the year versus Parsons Green Prep on Monday. Three very tightly-contested (and high scoring) matches saw our squads finish with two draws and a loss, with the final scores 4-5, 5-5 and 4-4.

On Wednesday Years 5 and 6, bounded out of school and put their energy to good use at the Ealing Cross Country Championships. Everyone crossed the finish line and Mr Allen was impressed with the determination and enthusiasm that the pupils showed.

Earlier in the week, Year 1 children played ‘invasion games’ at Ifield Road. They learned to listen carefully to instructions and be aware of spaces around them. Later they practised throwing and catching rugby balls. They enjoyed scoring tries and ‘stealing’ the ball from each other!

Sport underpins so many of the values we look for in a Redcliffe student – nurturing team players, independence, courage and resilience, as well as fairness, respect and sportsmanship – and it was fantastic to see so many students taking part and enjoying the chance to compete this week.
