Visit to the Planetarium
15th October 2021Still waiting for an invite on Jeff Bezos’ next space flight, Year 5 and 6 had the next best thing on their visit to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich for a tour through our celestial neighbourhood.
Students got a taste for the vastness of space after watching a show in the Planetarium called ‘Universe on your Doorstep’, followed by an interactive workshop entitled ‘Sun, Earth and Moon’ led by an astronomer. Pupils marvelled at the magnificent Great Equatorial Telescope before placing their feet in two hemispheres at once at the Prime Meridian Line.
After a race around beautiful Greenwich Park collecting conkers and a quick game of stuck-in-the-mud, it was time to return to Redcliffe Gardens reflecting on the vastness of the universe.
