Wallace Collection Visit

4th March 2022

On Monday, pupils in Years 2-4 visited The Wallace Collection to see the magnificent masterpieces and the collection of arms and armour from all over the world.

At The Wallace, the children took part in two workshops. In the first they explored the famous and intriguing portraits in the Collection through questioning, discussion and short creative tasks. The children considered the impact and meaning of the portraits today and collect ideas for further exploration in the classroom.

In the second workshop, students explored The Wallace’s incredible collection of armour. In this fun and interactive session the pupils investigated the purpose and styles of armour and the materials used to make it. Through discussion and observation, they learnt how armour developed through time and explored how different ranks, from knights to foot soldiers, protected themselves in battle.
