Writing to Persuade
20th January 2023Taking last term’s United Nations’ Global Goal: Life on Land module as inspiration, Year 5 pupils have been producing their own leaflets as part of their ‘Writing to Persuade’ curriculum.
Having learnt about the importance of rainforests and what should be done to protect them, students used this information to create leaflets to encourage people to save the rainforests. They learnt about the structure and format of leaflets, as well as persuasive techniques – such as those included in AFOREST (alliteration, facts, opinions, rhetorical questions, emotive language, statistics, and the rule of 3).
The students produced some really compelling and visually engaging pieces of literature to emphasise the importance of protecting Earth’s oldest living ecosystem.
