Year 3 and 4 Trip to Swanage

10th June 2022

On the Wednesday before half-term, Year 3 and 4 departed for their residential trip to Swanage on the south coast.

Pupils spent the first day exploring the Jurassic Coast, learning about its history, the flora and fauna in the region and enjoying the sunshine. After dinner the children finished the day at the beach playing games and making sand pictures, castles and a large boat.

The second day was spent swimming in the sea and playing in the sands of Swanage beach. The group then spent time finding their sea legs with a spot of paddleboarding and games out on the waves. The day was finished off by walking into town and having fish and chips by the harbour with a spot of crabbing before bed. Pupils had lots of success catching many crabs including a couple of fish, Mr Allan even caught a huge spider crab.

On the final day RGS pupils travelled to the local woods to learn about bushcraft. After a session on archery, they learnt how to start a fire using a flint and steel and cooked their own marshmallows.
