Year 5 and 6 visit a top local restaurant

As part of our education and community links programme Year 5 and 6 pupils had the opportunity to visit a top local London restaurant.

The children were shown the practicalities of working in a restaurant environment including working as part of a team and making food choices to create a menu, along with a full tour by one of the executive chefs.  There was a cookery demonstration and a questions and answer session to find out what’s involved in running a popular and busy restaurant. Students will be using the skills they learnt at the cookery demonstration to prepare food on Monday evenings for refugees housed in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hostels.

The children also followed up their trip in their Art lessons where they were inspired to produce a still life project which could adorn an Italian style menu in a restaurant such as the one they visited.
